In martial arts training, the right mat is not only a matter of comfort but also a crucial safety guarantee. According to the American ASTM F355 standard, high-quality martial arts mats must possess specific impact absorption capabilities, reducing the impact force on athletes during landings by as much as 60–70%. The International Wushu Federation (IWUF) recommends a mat thickness of at least 40 mm for training and 50 mm for competition to ensure adequate cushioning and protection.
Modern high-quality martial arts mats typically utilize a multi-layer design. The surface layer is made of durable PVC or PU material to provide the necessary friction; the middle layer consists of high-density EVA or XPE foam, which is responsible for impact absorption; and the bottom layer features an anti-slip treatment to ensure the mat remains stable and does not shift during use. When choosing a mat, in addition to thickness, attention should also be paid to the density parameter. High-quality mats usually have a density of 30 kg/m³ or higher, offering sufficient cushioning without being excessively soft and compromising movement stability.
Our products have passed international safety certifications, including European EN 12503 and U.S. OSHA standards. These certifications ensure that the mats maintain stable performance during long-term use and do not degrade due to UV exposure or variations in temperature and humidity. Professional training institutions should prioritize certified products when selecting mats to provide the highest level of protection for their athletes.
